Shenara Gamage

Instructor

Shenara started Taekwondo at Jeong's Taekwondo as a 7-year-old white belt. She has trained under Grand Master Kiho Jeong and Head Master Jaeho Jeong ever since and is now a second-degree black belt. She has traveled with the competition team and competed in Taekwondo since she was eight. She enjoys teaching and coaching for local competitions and competing herself. She has competed nationally once and is working on competing again.

Outside of Taekwondo, Shenara is a freshman at Olathe North High School, where she is involved in choir, DECA (a business competition), SASA (South-Asian Student Association), and Science Olympiad. Shenara also has done piano for a decade and continues to excel in music. She is a songwriter, and composer, and is always working on a new musical piece. She believes that hard work and teamwork make the dream come true, and that skill develops by practice, not luck or initial ability.

“Taekwondo has been a huge part of my life for a long time, and it would be wrong to not give back the service Master James and Grand Master Jeong gave me. Taekwondo has been my second home since I began my journey. Through the years, I’ve learned a lot of new techniques, but the most important part of Taekwondo for me was the bonds, the disciplinary aspect, and the hard training that I only now see the effect of. I look forward to working with your child not only to make them better at Taekwondo but also to help them learn those life skills that are important. I totally recommend Jeong's Taekwondo, it’s the best.”
